Missouri
Purpose:
To organize
a state and community based partnership that would adopt and advance
a vision of 100% Access and Zero Health
Disparities in the state of Missouri.
- Who
is involved:
- What
was done by Charles Wiltraut:
- I
conducted two strategic planning sessions with the MO PCA
in June 1999. Interviews of each MO PCA Board member were conducted
in this process.
- The
PCA Board identified and recruited Jefferson and Springfield Counties
to participate in a series of community
discussions in October 1999. Local health departments
served as the conveners, which is evidence of the partnership
with state public health in Missouri.
- Briefing
Packets which compiled secondary
data were produced for the site visit to each community.
- Reports
from each of the two communities were produced by Charles Wiltraut.
- Outcomes:
- PCA
membership was strengthened, and the MPCA Board of Directors adopted
the Campaign and agreed on strategies to implement the Campaign
in the state.
- The
Campaign in Missouri will focus on intervention strategies
to promote the following: oral health, use of tobacco dollars
for the underserved, and strong partnerships with the PCO/State
Health Department, the Region VII HRSA Field Office, the Communities
that Care state project, as well as state and local public health
and schools.
