Development
and Implementation of Technical Assistance
and Support Systems at the Community, State and
National Level for Health Status Improvement
The
Student/Resident Experiences and Rotations in Community Health
(S.E.A.R.C.H.) program, funded by the National Health Service
Corps, offers medical and health professions students and residents
the opportunity to train on interdisciplinary teams and acquire
skills needed to provide culturally competent care that is responsive
to the needs of underserved populations. The program provides
networking opportunities, community and clinical learning experiences,
mentoring relationships, preceptor relationships, leadership development
and other critical skills. The web-based Tennessee
SEARCH manual was co-created by the Tennessee
Primary Care Association and Charles Wiltraut as an introduction
to community health care issues for SEARCH fellows who are doing
clinical training in underserved areas of Tennessee. This online
manual is a self-directed/self-paced process containing relevant
articles and case studies, a glossary and bibliography, and links
to related Internet sites to enrich the overall experience with
the Tennessee SEARCH program. To learn more about the SEARCH program,

Service Corps SEARCH
